We experiment with a shorter prompt and apply different art styles. Starting with a baseline or benchmark prompt with the declaration of high-definition. We’ll change this declaration with each experimentation.
Initial Prompt: Aquatic Wonders, dreamlike quality, high-definition --ar 4:3 --v 6.0
This prompt wasn’t too inventive or dynamic; it just focused on details with the myriad of corals and fish. They remind me of wallpapers from Windows 95. Though pretty good, they’re not terribly inspiring.
Now we’ll experiment with the prompt, replacing high-definition with impressionist.
Prompt: Aquatic Wonders, dreamlike quality, impressionist --ar 4:3 --v 6.0
Here we see more artistry. Midjourney really infused the images with the impressionist art style. With the impressionist style, we lose detail and refinement in the individual creatures and plant life, but the AI compensates with nuances of the impressionist feel. Brush strokes are pronounced and the color palette is toned down. We also have more dynamic angles and compositions.
Next, we move on to another style: pointillism, which uses small dots or brush strokes to create the picture.
Prompt: Aquatic Wonders, dreamlike quality, pointillism --ar 4:3 --v 6.0
The generated images are interesting. They don’t quite have the intense pointillism of Georges Seurat’s 'A Sunday on La Grande Jatte.' You can, however, note the points with each image. Some almost have an 8-bit quality to them. What is a pixel but a point?
Continuing with famous art styles, we dive into cubism. The results we very striking.

Quadrant 2 is by far my favorite of this set. Overall, we see the basic structure of cubism with intense lines, geometry, and fewer details. However, this lets the mind wander and explore.
In our final prompt we evoke an artist’s name to draw in the style. Here, we chose Salvador Dali. He is renowned for his surrealism in paintings like The Persistence of Memory (melting clocks).

We definitely see his name’s influence on the final images. Images fully out of the imagination with dolphins flying, cities growing from an individual’s head, and other highly creative, imaginative or illogical configurations within the picture.
