Hey AI explorers!
I’m Jacob Tingen, and today we’re diving into the fascinating world of culinary photography, but with a twist.
Joining me is my brother Warren Tingen, our graphic design expert.
Let’s get started!
Initial Prompt: Hamburger in the Style of Salvador Dali
We kicked things off with a prompt for a hamburger, but with a twist: incorporating the style of Salvador Dali’s famous melted clock painting. Using the style reference parameter (SRF), we linked to an image that embodies Dali's surrealist aesthetic.
Prompt: bun, ground beef patty, pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, --sref https://s.mj.run/dmRWuXMtWKo
The results were mesmerizing. The hamburgers assumed the aesthetic of Dali’s work, featuring surreal, melted elements and a dreamlike quality. The clouds, moons, and planets added to the surreal atmosphere, and the bacon resembling a tongue sticking out of the hamburger was particularly fun.
Second Prompt: Hamburger in the Style of Jackson Pollock
Next, I experimented with a hamburger in the style of Jackson Pollock, known for his drip painting technique. This time, I tested the impact of placing the artist's name at the end of the prompt versus the beginning.
Prompt: Jackson Pollock: Abstract Expressionism, Drip technique, Energetic, bun, ground beef patty, pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato
The images turned out vibrant and chaotic, much like Pollock’s paintings. The bottom right image, in particular, looked like a burger thrown together in a splash of colors, mimicking Pollock's signature style. The colorful, abstract presentation brought a unique twist to the mundane hamburger.
Third Prompt: Hamburger in Pointillism
Warren then experimented with pointillism, a technique known for using small dots to create an image. He applied this style to the hamburger prompt to see how Midjourney would interpret it.
Prompt: bun, ground beef patty, pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, pointillism --sref https://s.mj.run/KXg7B8d6wXE - -v 6.0
The results were fantastic, with a muted and dotted aesthetic characteristic of pointillism. The images had a textured look, and the top left one even resembled a tile mosaic. The building elements in the background of the bottom left image added depth and interest.
Fourth Prompt: Hamburger Still Life in the Style of Rembrandt
I decided to give the hamburger a more classical twist by creating a still life in the style of Rembrandt. Known for his baroque realism and dramatic lighting, Rembrandt’s style was applied to the hamburger prompt.
Prompt: bun, ground beef patty, pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, still life, high brow, Rembrandt van Rijn: Baroque, Realism, Chiaroscuro
The results were stunning. The images featured dark backgrounds and dramatic shadows, typical of Rembrandt’s work. The top right image had onions placed on the side, adding to the still life feel, while the bottom right included elements like a bottle, enhancing the classical aesthetic.
Final Thoughts
This episode was a fascinating exploration of how Midjourney can blend culinary photography with different artistic styles. Each prompt brought a unique and imaginative twist to the humble hamburger, showcasing the AI’s ability to interpret and visualize diverse artistic influences.
Thanks for joining us on this artistic journey.
