Hey AI explorers! Welcome back to another episode of Midjourney Monday.
I’m Jacob Tingen, and today we’re diving into the latest advancements with MidJourney version 6.1. Joining me is my brother Warren Tingen, our graphic design expert.
Let’s get started!
Initial Prompt: Close-up Shot of Fans in Stands
We began with a close-up shot of fans in the stands to see how MidJourney 6.1 handles multiple small faces and hands. The goal was to test the detail and coherence of the crowd.
Prompt #1 - Close up shot of fans in stands.
The results were impressive. Unlike previous versions, which often produced "gobbledygook" faces in the background, version 6.1 provided a more accurate depiction of an actual crowd with distinct individual faces. There were still a few anomalies, but overall, the improvement in detail and coherence was evident.
Second Prompt: Extreme Close-Up of a Woman's Hazel Eye
Next, Warren focused on an extreme close-up of a woman's hazel eye to test the improvements in skin texture and detail in version 6.1.
Prompt #2 - Extreme close up of a woman's Hazel eye.
The images showed significant improvements. The skin texture looked more natural, and the eyes were more vibrant and detailed. Comparing version 6 to 6.1, the latter showed a noticeable enhancement in the overall realism and vibrancy of the eyes.
Third Prompt: Oak Tree Leaves, Micro Photography
I then tested oak tree leaves using micro photography to see how the different versions handled natural textures.
Prompt #3 - Oak tree leaves, microphotography
Starting with version 5.2, the images had a beautiful artistic quality. Version 6 looked more natural, with some leaves appearing lifelike. However, version 6.1 truly stood out with incredibly detailed leaves and realistic water droplets, showcasing a clear improvement in natural texture and detail.
Fourth Prompt: Extreme Close-Up of an Iridescent Beetle
Warren tried an extreme close-up of an iridescent beetle, using micro photography in a National Geographic style with a dynamic composition, to test the fine details and iridescence.
Prompt #4 - Extreme closeup of an iridescent beetle, micro photography, national geographic style, dynamic composition --ar 16:9-- v6.1
The results were stunning. Version 6.1 provided intense detail, especially in the eyes and facets of the beetle. The iridescent colors were more vibrant, and the texture was more realistic compared to version 6, which lacked some of the finer details.
Fifth Prompt: Ant, Micro Photography, National Geographic Style
Inspired by the insect theme, I created images of ants using micro photography in a National Geographic style.
Prompt #5 - Ant, microphotography, national geographic.
The results were fantastic. The ants were highly detailed, with fine strands visible. For fun, I also added a twist by prompting for an ant with a laser gun strapped to its back. The results were playful and imaginative, showcasing the versatility of version 6.1.
Final Thoughts
This episode highlighted the advancements of MidJourney version 6.1 in creating more coherent, detailed, and realistic images. Each prompt showcased the improvements in different aspects, from crowd scenes to extreme close-ups and natural textures.
